Fairness as a competitive advantage

Fair Company is Germany's largest employer network for fair working conditions and a responsible start to working life. The initiative was founded in 2004 by Handelsblatt and certifies companies that treat young talent fairly, transparently and with appreciation.

The basis for certification is a scientifically sound assessment as well as continuous feedback from students, career starters and young professionals. On the Fair Company platform, certified companies present themselves with profiles and job offers and position themselves visibly as attractive employers.

With a network of more than 500 companies of all sizes and industries, Fair Company provides orientation in the job market and brings committed employers together with qualified young talent.

Your path to certification

Become part of Germany's largest network for fairness. Our audit process is designed to be lean, so you can focus on what matters most: your talent.

1

Fair Company questionnaire

In the first step, you complete the questionnaire free of charge, following the criteria that matter to young professionals. This lets us check whether the basic requirements and structures of a Fair Company are met.

The questionnaire covers the following topics:

  • Leadership, company culture, transparency and communication
  • Work organisation and work-life balance
  • Career paths and personnel development
  • Compensation and additional benefits
  • (Job) security
  • Diversity and individuality
  • Market conduct, sustainability and social responsibility

Please allow around 30 minutes for the survey.

Evaluation of the questionnaire

Behind our seal is a scientific assessment. Once you have successfully completed the questionnaire, the data is evaluated by the Institute for Employment and Employability (IBE). Our independent audit makes your commitment to fair working conditions measurable. This is how we turn your company values into a transparent and credible quality promise.

  • Targeted analysis: a specialised questionnaire that specifically examines the fairness dimensions important to young professionals.
  • Maximum efficiency: a time-saving online survey (approx. 30–40 min.) for HR or management.
  • Objective evaluation: a neutral analysis of your data by the IBE as a basis for decision-making.

The questionnaire is considered passed when at least 55 percent is achieved overall and in each individual topic area.

Your result

About two weeks after submission, we get back to you with the result. If the requirements are met and the admission review is positive, a personal conversation and a membership offer follow. Of course, you are also welcome to contact us in advance for a conversation or any questions.

  • Direct feedback: receive ongoing responses from your own young talent.
  • Individual analysis: you receive an annual, company-specific evaluation of your fairness performance.
  • Optimising your employer branding strategy: use the scientifically sound results as a valuable basis for your HR work and communication.

Frequently asked questions about admission

Everything you need to know about the admission process, the assessment and your membership.

Who should complete the questionnaire?

The questionnaire is completed on the company side, usually by HR staff or (depending on your setup and company size) by management. In any case, the people involved should know the company very well.

We also recommend completing the questionnaire together with two or three people in order to assess your own company as accurately as possible.

How should I prepare for the survey?

No special preparation is required. What matters is that the person filling it out knows the company and its structures well. Plan for around 30 minutes.

Can we receive the questionnaire in advance?

The questionnaire is available exclusively online and is completed directly as part of the admission process. Unfortunately, a preview version cannot be provided.

Who has access to my answers and data?

Your data is treated confidentially and evaluated exclusively by the Institute for Employment and Employability (IBE). It is not passed on to third parties.

What happens if the assessment is not passed?

If the minimum score of 55 percent is not reached, you will receive feedback with suggestions for improvement. You can take part again at any time.

How long is the Fair Company certification valid?

The Fair Company certification is valid for one year at a time and is renewed as part of the annual membership.

How does the feedback process with young talent work?

After your admission as a Fair Company, your young talent is surveyed regularly by the IBE. You receive the results as a company-specific evaluation of your fairness performance.

What does membership include and what are the costs for us?

Membership includes the Fair Company seal, an employer profile, job board, network access and much more. For an individual offer, please contact us directly.
